Health Information Management Coder - Full-Time - Patient Financial Services

Type: Full-time

The Coder position is a staff position responsible for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. Through collaboration with all members of the health-care team, strives to support a patient centered culture and gain knowledge and skills to further the practice of the quality of patient services provided at WMRMC. Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Director the coder may be required to exercise independent judgement in applying knowledge required to facilitate the processes of health information management.

Full-Time With Benefits

Required Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Experience
2 years clerical experience in healthcare environment
2 years coding experience in hospital environment
Basic computer knowledge

Preferred Education and Experience
Knowledge of diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-10-CM coding principles

Required Licensees & Certifications
Completion of Certified Coding Associate(CCA) and/or Certified Coding Specialist(CCS) from American Health Information Management Association(AHIMA) OR Certified Professional Coder – Hospital(CPC-H) from the American Academy of Professional Coders(AAPC) OR equivalent certification OR successful completion of certification within ninety-days of hire
